King's Lynn St Michael's Rifle and Pistol Club

Est. 1903

Notice.

Congratulations,

To Carl Mitchell & Barry Green for passing the UKPSA basic safety course to competition standard !

Due to the new energy regulations we as a club will be keeping within the 4500 ft lbs energy limit,
I have sent out accompanying letters with the certificates of competence to the effect of :
1:  "every shooter turning up to an MOD shoot must be able to produce their certificate and FAC`s if required by any military personnel wishing to do a spot check"
2: "Secondly as a club we will require the production of the Cert of Competence upon signing the club range registrar failure to produce will mean you will not be permitted to shoot.
Simply put, if as a club we permit someone to shoot on the range with out the relevant documentation we will probably lose the privilege to shoot there altogether"
3: It will be extremely difficult to get a shoot on the Thetford gallery range until 2011, bookings will be sporadic at best, only 3 Saturdays and 1 Sunday per month are ear marked for booking and if a higher class unit than ourselves wants it they will get it in preference to us, so would suggest any shooter takes full advantage of the STANTA shoots.
4: The new licence to shoot on the Thetford gallery now stipulates no one under the age of 18 be permitted on the range the same as for the STANTA ranges.

There will be NO exceptions to the above rules so if you are refused permission to shoot by not complying with the above you have been warned, it your responsibility to know and comply with the rules.
the rules are made by the MOD not us and we can not risk losing the privilege for all the other club members by not complying.

This may sound harsh but that's how it was put to us,
thanks for your co-operation,
Mike Crask.

we are now working together with our friends at the grove small arms club to give us all more shoot dates,

so as normal they can attend our shoot dates and now we can also attend theirs, this applies to Thetford ranges only.

Gallery & Stanta Range Dates, Notices and Function dates.

Having spoken to Stanta booking cell it looks highly likely we will experience a lot of disruption this year on our range dates due to heavy unit operations on both the gallery and Stanta ranges.
The dates we get may well change regularly and at short notice if we can get any at all. My advice is if you want to shoot and can attend   don't put it off thinking there will be one the following month as it may not happen.

 Mike .

Stanta Battle Area dates: 2010

And remember to always check the shoot is still on before attending

hope to see you there,

Mike & Teresa.

The Gallery Range Dates.

Please find below the 2010 Thetford Gallery Dates.

Also note that all SUNDAY shoots will be from 0900 to 1300 hrs.

I have talked at length to bookings and billings accounts but no one can give me any indication of the
fees for a short Sunday shoot, so range fees will remain at 12 until I know what is going on.

The course of fire for a Sunday will be down to the acting RCO.
As to the new proposed energy limits of 4,500 j and its excedence the qualifications for such will take
place on full shoot days i.e., Saturdays, if it is required.
So only bring a rifle calibre of 4,500j or less for Sunday shoots, at the moment.

Sunday 7th March Thetford Gallery (Kings Lynn)

Notices.

May we remind members that subscriptions fall due on 1st March and in accordance with the clubs constitution must be paid by

1st April.

A note from Teresa

The summer shooting season is set to start in may for both club and county competitions,

I would therefore ask you  all to make an effort this season to try and enter at least one comp.

A comp may involve as little effort as shooting 2 cards once a month, and cost as little as £2.50 to enter, and by doing so you are supporting the club. (Not financially as the comp fees are ploughed back into awards.)

By entering comps you give yourself as well as the club, the impetuous of respectability and commitment looked upon favourably by the authorities, namely the police who renew your certificate.

Excuses of being a poor shot don't wash, as every level of skill is catered for, it just takes a little effort from you.

Full details can be found on the notice boards at the club.

So, clean your gun find some ammo and come along and have ago and surprise me, and  you'll probably surprise yourself, as it is really quite good fun.

Yours hopefully,

T Craske.   stats co-ordinator.

I would like to add that I "as a relatively new member to the club" had not entered in any competitions so decided to pop and have a chat with Teresa to see what is involved.

I found out It really is that simple to enter, all you need to do is put your name down and pay your entry fee (£2.50 !!) the rest is sorted out for you by Teresa and she is on hand to answer any questions you might have, your competition targets are placed in a cubby hole with your name on and they are dated as to when they should be shot by.

There are lots of competitions to chose from so you can shoot pretty much what ever you like.

I must admit that the thought of competition shooting was a bit daunting but now I know what's involved and how simple it is I'm quite looking forward to it, and believe me it really doesn't matter how good or bad a shot you are as you shoot against people with similar ability.

cheers

Barry Green.
